While many of our stories focus on life inside the village, there’s a whole world beyond it to be explored.

Pebble Sound

You've heard me mention it before but Small Thicket has a neighboring village to the not so far north called Pebble Sound. If Small Thicket is a marble then Pebble Sound is a grain of sand. Very teeny and very quiet.

Pebble Sound isn’t much more than a handful of houses and fae creatures that live on the sandy shores of a large human river. Dwellings are built amongst washed up driftwood, small stones, and shells. Occasionally some fun human trash washes up as well and since our fairies are fond of repurposing human things you can bet they do here as well. There’s a small food stand or two but many of the inhabitants tunnel underground away from hungry birds and the harsh sun during the warm months. The cool sand tunnels allow the villagers to be out of their homes but safe from prying human eyes. Don't cover up any little holes you see in the sand on beaches as you may be filling in a chimney!

A small tributary runs down to Small Thicket and this waterway is the main method of travel for both fae and also mail parcels. Diminutive glass bottles filled with messages float up and down the creek either intended for connection with the larger Fairy Mail Service or to an address in the village itself.

Baba Manzana’s Workshop

Baba Manzana’s workshop and home are contained within a very old and craggy apple tree outside the village. North of the Waving Meadow there’s an old and somewhat forgotten orchard of apple trees, that still produce fruit for those who ask, adjacent to the creek and the nearby property of an old farmhouse. This is where Baba has always been and always will be. Some say she was planted in the ground and from her grew the apple trees. Others say she was born of a blossom in place of a fruit. Regardless of her origin she has been a deeply valued member of the community for many ages.
