Fairies are much like plants in that they create some energy through the process of photosynthesis and are incredibly absorbent. Sometimes if their skin touches too much of a singular element their body can absorb it like a sponge and become irritated. They call this malady Sponge Skin. In this case it seems Tickseed's thumb absorbed too much iron from the soil and has become mildly magnetic. The little bits of soil and human paper clip that clung solidly to the swollen thumb were a giveaway.
